Much-needed premium hotel accommodation in the burgeoning regional city of Geelong creatively and respectfully builds upon the city’s renowned colonial streetscapes.
Architecture
With a focus on sustainable material use and a goal to maximise views to the bay and heritage buildings across the city, the solution for this important site pays homage to the original structure, an 1850s sale yard, while creating a valuable asset for the city and its visitors for the 21st century and beyond.
Complementary materiality, a graceful fin-based exterior, sympathetic colour palette and generous setbacks allow the heritage façade to remain the dominant visual feature from the street, breathing new life into a landmark piece of historic Ryrie Street.
